Anatomy of a remix #2

A while back I did this and it seemed to go over well, so, why not go for a round 2.
This time around, it’s a remix i did for fun of a Donny Hathaway song. Much like the last one, It was just something I threw together using samples i either normally wouldn’t use or couldn’t use.

so, here ya go. Enjoy all the parts.

1) A dream (remix) : Blockhead
2)A dream: Donny Hathaway
3)I’m sad about it: Lee Moses
4)Hands Away : Interpol
5)Oslo in the summertime: Of Montreal
6)Who will pay reparations on my soul: Gil Scott Heron
7)Tell Him: The Exciters
8)The River: Ananda Shankar
9)Never Surrender: Stan Bush

  1. yo i remember a while back, you did a remix of nina simone’s “nobody’s fault but mine”. Can you hook a brother up with a link? thanks

      • Yeah I am kind of a hater of theirs. I remember when Music By Cavelight came out I was dating this girl who was really into them. She described your album as “Of Montreal meets hip hop”. Now I find out you are sampling them, woe is me.

      • to be fair, i would never sample them on a real song (i couldn’t get away with it). that’s kinda the point of these remix’s.

  2. I can’t begin to explain my depth of appreciation for these anatomy of a remix post. The last one you did I spent well over 10 hours trying my best to break down your method on using samples. Still can’t figure that shit out, but it has made a noticeable difference in the garbage that is my music. Time for another all nighter.

Think theres any chance you will be doing fidelity remix of Regina Spektor, that track crushes face.
