The Original “Bent Life” Featuring Slug and Eyedea

A while back, I had mentioned in this post that the original version of the song “Bent life” was actually something completely different. It was a song that featured Slug and Eyedea that got scrapped due to lack of focus. Until now, this song had never been heard outside of a small handful of people but Aesop just threw it up for download on his website 900 Bats. Go get “Thorns” here

RIP Michael “Eyedea” Larsen. He was a cool dude and making this song (and others) with slug and Aes was a lot of fun. This was before any of us had really realized what we were a part of. Before making music had any pressure involved, back when it was just us having fun doing something that we loved.

  1. thanks man…one of my faves on labor days, so with these new verses, this is golden….eyedea is sorely missed….and I always appreciate free music, especially hidden gems like this…

  2. Thanks to gawd Despot. I would be great if you could get him to do a post for you of just like rare and uneleased shit like this.

  3. You just made me think of a bunch of questions with the final paragraph of your entry, i don’t know if you’d like to answer this in one of your Q&A if at all, but here it goes:

You said: “This was before any of us had really realized what we were a part of. Before making music had any pressure involved, back when it was just us having fun doing something that we loved.”
When did it change for you?
Was it when it became a full time job?
Was it once you started getting criticism about your work?
Do you consider your work was better back then?
You recently tweeted apologizing (maybe jokingly) about labor days’ drums… in case you were serious, do you think that even though it might have been technically flawed your stuff was better then?

  4. Why does that song in the background remind me of something I heard from you, you should do some video game soundtracks, I could totally see myself beating the life out of a hooker while Blockhead is blaring from a car nearby.
